10 WWE Fan Reactions That Had A Serious Effect On A Wrestler
9. Seth Rollins Rises To 'CM Punk!' Chants (2019)
When CM Punk finally returned to WWE - albeit through a FOX contract - fans immediately started to dream again of an in-ring comeback.
Despite that still being highly unlikely, Punk's name was again chanted in every arena (like it ever stopped) and a few current full-time talents even tried their best to lull him out of the wilderness.
Seth Rollins, fresh off the back of being criticised for his Twitter activity by 'The Voice of the Voiceless', was one such superstar and decided to go one step further on an episode of Monday Night Raw in 2019.
Clearly the fans in attendance were well aware of the pair's recent beef and decided to antagonise Rollins with 'CM Punk!' chants, only for Rollins to impulsively respond to the crowd by stating, "I tried to get (Punk) here, I’m sorry. He didn’t wanna show up. He wants to sit behind a desk in Los Angeles and talk about a change that he’s too afraid to make himself."
Vince McMahon was reportedly furious at Rollins' decision to acknowledge the chants, with the boss rumoured to not approve of stars trying to promote matches which he has no intention of booking.
This crowd reaction - along with another which we'll touch upon later - helped push Rollins back towards being a heelish pr*ck on screen again. More importantly, though, this ill-advised retaliation to the WWE Universe chanting for his genuine enemy at the time may have landed Rollins in the boss' bad books for a spell.
