10 WWE Fan Reactions That Had A Serious Effect On A Wrestler

8. 'You Suck!' (2001)

WWE fans are a creative bunch.

In February 2001, Kurt Angle was in the thick of a WWF title programme with The Rock when the current champion thought it would be a grand idea to play a video montage of himself battering 'The Great One' to the sound of his own theme song.

In the middle of this video presentation, the fans in attendance started to "add their own words" as Jerry Lawler put it.

Those words?

"You Suck!"

Over the next year, the chant would pop up every now and again, but it was only when Angle started feuding with Edge in 2002 that the audible response began to consistently feature on weekly television.

After that Edge programme, Angle never walked down the ramp again without being serenaded by a thousand 'You Suck!' chants. On a few occasions the crowd reaction forced the Olympic Gold Medalist to snap back and he even censored the chants back in 2005.

As Angle became something of a living legend in his later years, however, fans eventually chose to sing the infamous words at the former World Champion as a form of endearment.

Without a doubt, that one night on SmackDown back in February 2001 helped Angle engage with a live crowd like never before and the deafening 'You Suck!' response became a staple for every appearance he made on a WWE show for the rest of his career.
