6. CM Punk Vs. Paul Heyman (2013)

CM Punk labelled himself a "Paul Heyman Guy" in his infamous pipebomb, and the declaration of allegiance led to Heyman re-emerging during the second half of Punk’s historical WWE Title reign when Punk turned Heel. The two had an amazing dynamic in their promos and interviews, with chemistry so palpable it could be felt through the screen.

By wrestling logic, the two were destined for a messy breakup. This went down in 2013 when Punk asked Heyman for some space in their partnership. Heyman reacted in a calm and mature manner: by sending Brock Lesnar to punish Punk for this perceived slap in the face. The feud between Heyman and Punk lead to arguably the best match of 2013 when Lesnar defeated Punk in a thrilling No DQ match at Summerslam. Unfortunately, things continued from there.

After Lesnar's victory, he simply took off for a few months and left Heyman alone with Punk. This meant Heyman needed to recruit more “Paul Heyman Guys” that, compared to Lesnar, were comically inept. Superstars like Ryback and Curtis Axel filled the role of hired goon, doing them no favours. The entire feud wrapped up with Punk caning Paul Heyman on top of the titular Cell at HIAC, two months after Summerslam’s natural conclusion and ending with a whimper rather than a bang.
