10 WWE Gimmicks I Loved (That Everybody Else Hated)

2. Drew McIntyre As "The Chosen One"

WWE.comWWE.comDrew McIntyre should have been a World Heavyweight Champion in WWE. Bold statement? Maybe, but I really think that his "Chosen One" character was built to be a champion and they absolutely dropped the ball with him. It's not like the character was that deep. The reason it really stood out was because WWE Chairman Vince McMahon went on Smackdown and said this guy was going to be a World Champion. They should have followed through on it instead of waiting. Somewhere along the way, WWE lost faith him. Part of it was because of an incident with his wife at the time (WWE diva Tiffany) when they got in an altercation in public that WWE felt embarrassed. People do stupid things once in a while. It shouldn't have killed his push when he was a guy in his mid-20s with a good look that could have been a future main eventer. He spent nearly three years doing nothing or being a part of that 3MB comedy group. It was a complete waste. What's interesting about the "Chosen One" gimmick is that WWE seems to have brought back in a way by making Seth Rollins as a guy handpicked by Triple H. He's young, he's a star on the rise and if everything goes right he'll be a top guy. Rollins is a better overall talent than McIntyre in my opinion, but if they really got behind McIntyre three years ago he would already be in a top position today.
