10 WWE Gimmicks I Loved (That Everybody Else Hated)

4. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes

WWE.comWWE.comA heel character that tells you that they are better than you, the viewer, isn't a new idea. It's been done in wrestling for dozens of years. That kind of gimmick is never going away. However, when a guy is so full of himself that he wants to give you grooming tips like how to trim nose hair or wash your face then that's taking it to the next level. Those Cody Rhodes "dashing" instructional videos were always hilarious to me. It made you want to punch the guy in the face, which is exactly the kind of reaction a heel should be getting. He still had to develop as a wrestler, but in terms of his persona it worked really well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxr2eGdn4Kk It's not like guys want to be told how to look. I have a beard, I don't really care what my hair looks like most of the time and I don't know a damn thing about plucking my eyebrows, but I'm entertained by it when a wrestler is trying to piss people off by talking about those things. He did the "dashing" gimmick for the second half of 2010 and he got into a feud with Rey Mysterio in 2011, but after Rhodes legitimately broke his nose they decided to turn him into more of a freak character that wore a mask. He felt he was no longer dashing anymore. That gimmick sucked. It was a total mistake to dump the "dashing" persona the way they did.
