10 WWE Gimmicks Nobody Was Supposed To Take Seriously
8. Goldust As The Guy That Stutters
Goldust was one of the great heels that WWE had in the mid to late 1990s. He really owned the screen whenever he was on there during his initial run from 1995 to 1997 or so. It's a shame that it didn't last longer because he could have went very far as that character. Goldust became more of a likable, comedic babyface in the early 2000s. Things changed for him after a February 2003 attack by Randy Orton and Batista. He was tossed into some electrical equipment in the back of an arena an when he came back, he would stutter all the time. http://youtu.be/xoCCXaXcHaI It was actually pretty funny to watch him act like that, but we're not sure if people that stutter were laughing or those that knew somebody that might have Tourette's. It could have been seen as offensive to them. The stuttering gimmick didn't last that long because he was released later in 2003. It was an example of WWE taking a once great character and turning him into a joke character that lost all the value he had.
