10 WWE Gimmicks Nobody Was Supposed To Take Seriously

7. Festus

Festus was a dumb hillbilly character that teamed up with a guy named Jesse. Festus didn't talk. He walked to the ring looking like he was in some catatonic state where he was unaware of where he was, then the bell would ring and he would be this vicious wrestler. Apparently he knew tag team rules because he was able to calm down while standing on the apron. When a match was over, the bell would ring again and Festus would go back to being a dummy again. It would have been funny to see Festus in skits. What's he like in a restaurant where they use a bell to alert people? If he's in a house and the doorbell rings, does he attack that person? Is a microwave buzzer the equivalent of a bell or will it not work? These are some of the not so intriguing questions that people could have wondered about this guy. Does WWE wonder why this gimmick didn't work? It's because he was booked to be like an idiot! People laughed at the guy. He wasn't getting sympathy heat as a babyface. People were bored during his matches because they would rather laugh at how dumb he looked before the bell rang. The guy that performed as Festus was better known as Luke Gallows and also as the Impostor Kane for a brief run. They turned him into Gallows by saying he was given drugs to make him act the way he did before.
