10 WWE Hell In A Cell 2018 Impulse Reactions

8. Lynch Mobbed

'The Irish Lass Kicker' was about to be forced into portraying the typical irritated WWE heel after her SummerSlam slapping of former friend Charlotte. That something changed between then and Sunday's pay-per-view was of some relief - were WWE listening to the fanbase after all?

Well, no. But they were compromising, at least.

Lynch jumped 'The Queen' from behind every time as an old-fashioned heel would, but the company allowed for the babyface responses she received. It seemed by design to ensure Charlotte's trajectory didn't travel down the same path Roman Reigns' did.

A polished and pushed performer, Flair was in danger of permanently feeling the burn from the blackened hearts of the disenfranchised masses, but has now been given a reason to chase genuine redemption with her loss.

For Lynch, the result thankfully vindicated everything she said. WWE, for once, made sure to have a performer back up their words with actions. Showing, not telling, Becky's 'straight fire' came from a certainty that she'd have taken the title all along if given a chance. She was, and she did. Heel, babyface, tweener or none of the above, she's at least somebody to believe in. For now, at least.
