Ric Flair and Randy Savage's feud was based around a very simple concept: Savage is very protective around his wife, and Ric Flair is a womaniser. Flair's reveal that before Miss Elizabeth was with the Macho Man, she was with Flair wound Savage up to breaking point and was a great basis for a dream feud between two of the all-time greats.

A Hell in a Cell match would have been perfect for a coward like Ric Flair, who would have nowhere to hide from the Macho Man's wrath inside the confines of the cell. Seeing Savage throw Flair all around the inside of the structure would have been extremely satisfying, and Flair is certainly no stranger to dangerous matches and getting a little colour to enhance the drama of a match.
