Shawn Michaels v Bret Hart is a rare case of a feud that spilled over into real life, as both competed to be the top star of the 1990s, animosity grew between the two of them. When the pair first began wrestling, there was a real sense of mutual respect, but that quickly eroded as their personalities and approaches to wrestling rubbed each other the wrong way.

They would often trade barbs on the microphone, bringing real-life allegations onto the wrestling show such as Bret's alleged affair with Sunny, and it was quite apparent to fans that the feud was very much real.
