10 WWE House Show Matches We Can't Believe Weren't Televised
7. Bret Hart Vs. Owen Hart - 1994
Surviving an Iron Man match in WWE has become a badge of honour worn by very few men in wrestling history - an indication of the level of athleticism it takes to captivate today's audience for an hour.
Attention spans have shortened in recent years, leading Iron Man matches to become a 30 minute affair with increasingly regularity. With that, it seems that WWE is attempting to break away from the hour-long tradition, one that dates back all the way to 1993.
Even before WWE started using the "Iron Man" monikor, Ric Flair and Bret Hart had an hour-long multi-fall match at a house show in the Boston Garden. Billed as a "Marathon Match", that bout itself must have been epic to witness. However, Hart's second marathon match a year later is lost gold.
The second marathon match in WWE history took place in New Jersey in July 1994, with Owen Hart challenging his brother for the WWF Championship. After their initial classic at WrestleMania X, an hour-long rematch between the siblings is a wrestling purist's dream.
Nevertheless, the bout was untelevised and fans around the world would have to wait until SummerSlam '94 in August to see the two square off again.
