10 WWE House Show Matches We Can't Believe Weren't Televised
3. Steve Austin Vs. Eddie Guerrero - 2002
An agonising missed opportunity if there ever was, the cancelled Steve Austin/Eddie Guerrero feud of 2002 could have been one of the most epic rivalries in wrestling. Instead, just four house show bouts emerged as a result.
The feud had been initiated on the 20 May episode of Raw with a segment that saw Guerrero glass Austin in a bar, and the plans were for Austin to get his revenge with a match against 'Latino Heat' at King of the Ring '02. In preparation, Austin and Guerrero began to work together on house shows in late May/early June.
Sadly for everyone involved - including the fans - none of their battles were recorded and the KOTR bout never happened. Instead, Austin left WWE amid controversy just weeks before the PPV took place. Meanwhile, Guerrero was placed in a consolation feud with Ric Flair.
The Austin feud would have undoubtedly done wonders for Guerrero's standing in the company at the time. The cancellation meant Eddie had to wait another 18 months before he got his main event push in early '04.
Nevertheless, Guerrero did get to wrestle The Rock in singles competition on Raw the following month. Ultimately, his move to SmackDown later that year would kick-start his gradual ascent to greatness.
