10 WWE House Show Matches We Can't Believe Weren't Televised
2. Ric Flair Vs. Hulk Hogan - 1991
Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan has long been considered the ultimate missed opportunity in the history of WWE. With both men flying the flag for their respective promotions throughout the '80s, WrestleMania seemed like the perfect stage for the real World Champion of wrestling to be crowned.
Despite this sound logic, the match never materialised and WrestleMania VIII was given a "double main event" of Savage vs. Flair for the WWF Championship and Hogan vs. Sid in a grudge match. The reasoning for the separation has varied over the years, with some citing lack of chemistry and others claiming a disagreement over the outcome as the primary factor.
However, contrary to popular belief, Vince McMahon had presented the Hogan/Flair bout himself as early as October 1991. In fact, the WWF had actually presented Flair vs. Hogan an incredible 29 times by the end of 1991, as well as a further six times in early '92.
Despite what was clearly a dry run for their feud heading into WrestleMania, the big showdown never materialised, leaving their previous 35 bouts on the house show loop as a taste of what could have been. WCW would eventually pull the trigger for Bash at the Beach '94, gaining huge PPV numbers in the process.
