Lex Luger's induction to the WWE Hall of Fame was greeted with warm applause, especially for fans who grew up in the mid-90s. Despite never winning any title in WWE, he was a noteworthy figure in the company's New Generation, and his debut on the first-ever episode of WCW Nitro on September 4th, 1995, arguably fired the first shot of the Monday Night Wars.

After WWE's acquisition of WCW in March of 2001, Luger stepped away from the spotlight. This is pro wrestling though, and being inactive rarely means being gone for good. During the period that Jeff Jarrett was in charge at TNA, he seemed to be trying to actively relive WCW, for better and (largely) for worse. What better way to do that than bring in The Total Package, right? Well, not really.

Giving Luger a logo that looked like it came from an early 90s CD-ROM and one of Ric Flair's robes, Lex would have just one match in TNA. This came in a tag team contest alongside Jeff Jarrett, with the pair suffering a defeat to the team of AJ Styles and Sting back in November 2003. It was billed as Luger's final match, but the Lex Express rolled on for several more matches on the indies before he eventually hung up his boots in August, 2006.
