10 WWE Legends Who Should Have Retired At WrestleMania
3. The Rock (vs John Cena) WrestleMania 28
From Hulk Hogan to John Cena, The Rock managed to have era-defining matches with the biggest stars that preceded and came after him in WWE. Dwayne Johnson had long become a Hollywood A-Lister throughout his seven years away from the ring when he returned in 2011 to set up a 'Once in a Lifetime' matchup against Cena at WrestleMania 28.
The two superstars had a passable matchup that just about managed to live up to the hype of the build, but the fact that Rock won should have raised alarm bells for fans, as there was more to come. At WrestleMania 29, the pair proceeded to have a much worse second match for the WWE title, where Cena got his win back and the 'People's Champion' seemingly retired for good.
The 'Once in a Lifetime' bout should have stuck to its word as their second match a year later was such a diminished return that it was not worth having, or stripping CM Punk of the WWE title for. Hopefully, if The Rock does return for one more match it can leave a better mark than his previous two-match series with John Cena couldn't.
