10 WWE Legends Who Should Have Retired At WrestleMania
2. Goldberg (vs Brock Lesnar) WrestleMania 33
Goldberg's comeback run from Survivor Series 2016 to WrestleMania 33 was stellar, which is a shame because it could have served as a great retirement tour if he had called it a day there. Instead, Bill would return numerous times over the past few years in matches that continued to diminish the WCW legend's star power and legacy.
The shocking squash victory over Brock Lesnar in his return match at Survivor Series was tremendous and legitimately one of the most exciting booking decisions WWE made over the past decade. Brock was on top of the wrestling world after ending Undertaker's streak, winning numerous world titles and being the perennial final boss in WWE for all their rising stars.
A rematch at WrestleMania 33 was set for the Universal Championship, where the two behemoths managed to put on an explosive match that far eclipsed their ill-fated WrestleMania 20 bout. It would have been the perfect ending for Goldberg had he not returned for various matches against the likes of Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley, and The Undertaker, which were all diminished returns and in some cases dangerously worked.
