10 WWE Legends Who Tapped Out To Kurt Angle
7. Brock Lesnar - SummerSlam 2003
Here’s how long ago 2003 was: back then, Lesnar had a match with Angle because he’d been a bad friend. Lesnar is the epitome of looking out for number one nowadays (inside the ring and out), but back in the day, he ruined a close kinship with his fellow amateur wrestler based on his lust for championships.
The bout at SummerSlam 2003 is a good one, hard hitting, aggressive, and slick (that is to say, unlike WrestleMania XIX, no one lands square on their head following a shooting star press). Vince McMahon - dressed thematically for the beach - interjects, walloping Angle with a chair, but the then-babyface Angle picks up the win after catching Lesnar with the ankle lock. Angle was one of the greatest at making wrestling look and feel real, and when pitting his might against Lesnar, similarly gifted, they turn a match into a war.
Lesnar would go on to become, essentially, untouchable in his WWE return, and it might be a while before you see him tap again (he even got his win back against Cain Velasquez in an unedifying bit of booking). When it came to Kurt Angle in his prime however, there was only going to be one winner.
