10 WWE Legends Who Should Have Won The Royal Rumble But Never Did
2. Daniel Bryan
Should Batista have won the Royal Rumble in 2014? No! No! No! Should Daniel Bryan have won the match instead? Yes! Yes! Yes! It's easy to forget how things went at the 2014 Rumble, given that Bryan did eventually get his WrestleMania triumph at the end of the day. But it should be remembered that WWE made a booking gaffe so severe that it made Mick Foley famously throw a brick through his TV. Daniel Bryan was the star of the 2014 Rumble, having an absolutely barnburning opening match with Bray Wyatt. Bryan lost but many figured the immensely popular superstar would reappear in the Rumble and set things right. When Bryan hadn't entered and the countdown for No.30 began, fans inside the arena were shaking with anticipation for Bryan's arrival. It had to be him, surely. Nope. Poor Rey Mysterio trotted out instead, receiving a venomous backlash from the Pittsburgh crowd. They had been chanting for Bryan the whole match and were so disappointed with his exclusion that they turned on the match and booed the returning Batista out of the building. In WWE's defence, they never actually advertised Bryan for the Rumble match and they did do the right thing at WrestleMania XXX. Still, it was an ugly scene and a senseless decision. The fans saw right through Batista's Guardians Of The Galaxy-aided push.
