10 WWE Legends Who Should Have Won The Royal Rumble But Never Did

8. CM Punk

Man of the moment Punk would have been a good candidate to win several of the recent Royal Rumbles. He could have even won the 2014 edition, instead his Rumble outing was his last for the WWE. There were a few Rumbles before the 2014 edition that Punk could have won. His 2010 Rumble appearance was memorable but sadly short-lived. For the first ten minutes, Punk was a star eliminating five midcarders and cutting great promos in-between. Then Triple H showed up and tossed the Straight Edge Superstar over the top. Hey, maybe Punk had a point about Triple H stopping his momentum when he went on the warpath last year? 2011saw Punk last over half an hour and put in another great performance but he was saddled with being a member of the New Nexxus. Alberto Del Rio won that year, the first 40 man Rumble, but Punk would have been just as good as winner, if not even a little better. With Punk leaving the WWE for the UFC last year and vowing never to return, it would be fair to say that the window of opportunity has passed for a Punk Rumble win. This is wrestling, however, and the Rumble is one of the most unpredictable matches of the year so never say 'never'.
