10 WWE Lockdown Era Matches That Deserved A Live Crowd
6. Finn Bálor Vs. Kyle O'Reilly (NXT TakeOver 31)
Choose any NXT TakeOver event that has ever happened and you're guaranteed a quality wrestling show. No exaggeration; every single show has been at least great. At TakeOver 31, Bálor and O'Reilly topped off another stellar event with a showcase of story and style.
We didn't see any fatty overbooking, no interference from O'Reilly's stablemates, just two men beating the living hell out of each other. Both competitors picked up legitimate injuries during their near-half-hour war, keeping them both off the following episode of NXT - Bálor was out for six weeks. You could see the blows were going to be snug from the time the first kick landed from O'Reilly.
Finn Bálor is so good that he can hold onto a side headlock for over a minute without you even noticing, and O'Reilly more than held his own against The Prince - showing true underdog fight when he was floored by a nasty-looking liver shot with twenty minutes of the match still to go. The in-ring action, the finish, the show of respect between the pair afterwards, the underling story being told with O'Reilly, it was all prime crowd-popping territory.
