Carmella debuted on NXT TV as a hairdresser - as the inventively named Hair - providing Enzo Amore and Big Cass with an industrial-sized tub of hair removal cream. After the duo’s antics resulted in her termination, they took her on as their manager. By kayfabe standards, she did well in transitioning from pixie cuts to powerbombs.

It’s easy to forget how over the trio were down in NXT; their matches and mic work often drew the biggest crowd reactions at any TakeOver. Though she was a huge part of the team’s success, like any good manager Carmella allowed her team to shine.

When the trio moved to the main roster in 2016, Carmella was split from her charges and cast as a solo act on SmackDown. She went on to become the biggest success of the stable.

Being away from Enzo, Cass, and the controversy that stalked them in WWE, was greatly beneficial. Carmella went on to become the first ever female Money in the Bank winner (2017) and held the SmackDown Women’s Championship for 131 days. As well as her in-ring skills, she also excelled in comedy, particularly alongside R-Truth and James Ellsworth.
