10 WWE Match Finishes Which Need To Die

4. Ring Entrance Music Distraction

Not unlike when someone decides to start flapping their gums while standing on the announce table, this is a distraction finish which is hard to believe anyone could be genuinely distracted by. Whether it's a face or heel in the ring, the sound of their rival's entrance music starting up with leave them entirely powerless and vulnerable in the ring. Surely a glance up to the entrance ramp would be enough to see that no one is rushing to the ring with means to do them harm, and the affected Superstar could just carry on with the match (albeit with the addition of some music instead of the normal crowd noise). This finish could be categorised as a "classic" WWE trope, but audiences have advanced over the years, and this now asks just too much of them. It's not remotely believable, and while there are some circumstances in which it might work - Paul Heyman announcing that CM Punk was coming to the ring in a bid to distract Chris Jericho while they were feuding for example - that is only the case on a very rare basis, and this might be better off retired.
