10 WWE Matches Improved By Last Minutes Changes
8. Braun Strowman Vs Goldberg - WrestleMania 36 Night 1
When Goldberg squashed The Fiend at Super ShowDown 2020 to win the Universal Championship, wrestling fans thought things couldn't get any worse. Then Roman Reigns arrived.
Reigns, who was still recovering from his disastrous babyface push prior to his leukaemia diagnosis, stepped up to challenge Bill for his new gold at WrestleMania 36. Then, you know, the thing happened.
The pandemic led to widespread changes across society, and wrestling was no exception. As a result, WrestleMania was held behind closed doors and Reigns took time away from the business to protect his compromised immune system.
WWE then presumably drew names out of a hat to decide Roman's replacement, because Braun Strowman was chosen at random to be Goldberg's opponent instead. The match came at the first night of 'Mania and Strowman beat the Hall of Famer to win his first World Title in the company.
Whilst Roman vs Goldberg would have been a fun match, fans were in no hurry to see a top championship around Reigns' waste again. This way, a new top star was created and The Big Dog could take time to keep himself safe and create his greatest character ever.
