10 WWE Matches That Changed Your Mind About Wrestlers You Hated

4. Triple H Vs. Cactus Jack - Royal Rumble 2000

Triple H was one of the most popular midcarders in WWE in 1998, and when he turned heel the following year, it was clear he was ready to be a main eventer. Still, his first couple of title wins were anticlimactic, and within a few months, he was implausibly a three-time WWE Champion. He needed major help if he was going to be seen as on the same level as Steve Austin and The Rock. It was Mick Foley who reverted to his Cactus Jack persona and stepped up to offer Triple H his first major feud as WWE Champion. Cactus Jack forced the WWE Champion to meet him on his own territory - Madison Square Garden - and in his own match - a hardcore bout - and the result made Triple H a star in the eyes of the WWE Universe. Both men waged a brutal war, with thumbtacks, barbed wire, and handcuffs. Though Cactus Jack appeared to take the brunt of the punishment, HHH was accidentally stabbed through the leg by a piece of wood from a broken pallet and had to compete with the wound. By the time "The Game" pinned Foley after a Pedigree in a pile of thumbtacks, he had earned everyone's respect.
