10 WWE Matches That Didn't Know When To End

7. Bret Hart Vs. Bob Backlund - Survivor Series 1994

In Bret Hart and Bob Backlund, you have two multiple-time World Champions, two Hall of Famers, two top level in-ring technicians, and two of the most respected grapplers of their respective generations.

Despite all of this, the pair's match at Survivor Series 1994 dragged on for far longer than was necessary - to the point it became a chore to sit through.

Sure, the story of the match meant that Bob had to lock Hart into his patented Chicken Wing in order to have Owen Hart convince mother Helen to throw in the towel for Bret. But still, this could have all been executed just as well without having to drag the audience through a match that landed at just over the 35-minute mark.

Bret himself has gone on record himself to say how his clash with Backlund at WrestleMania XI is his least favourite PPV match, yet that match was at least done and dusted after nine minutes.

The story of that Survivor Series match was actually rather good, it's just that it took far, far too long to get to the twist of Owen and his crocodile tears costing the Hitman his WWF Championship. Backlund having Bret locked in that Chicken Wing for ten minutes is questionable in itself, yet alone to have a further 25 minutes of the match take place before that spot came to fruition.
