Blood caused friction in the WWE locker room again in 2008 when Batista and Chris Jericho secretly plotted behind McMahon's back for a Steel Cage match on Raw.

The end of the match called for Y2J to belt Batista with a steel pipe, and neither felt it'd make much sense if 'The Animal' didn't bleed like his head had been split open. Sure, Vince would be hot, but Batista said it was for the betterment of the match, and he'd be able to explain away the gusher.

Unfortunately for both, McMahon was livid. Batista told this story on Talk Is Jericho a few years ago now, and recalled being hauled into Vince's office for a thorough ticking off. The following week, he was fined $100,000, and Jericho, referee Mike Chioda and agent Dean Malenko were each fined £5,000. We're not mathematicians, but that's quite the disparity.

Batista, to his credit (and because it had been his idea), paid everyone's penalty, although he disagreed with the hefty fines imposed. It didn't matter. To McMahon, it was unacceptable that his workers had ignored the new PG format in favour of adding spice to their match.
