10 WWE Matches That Were Too Epic To Fail (Yet Somehow Still Did)

9. Roman Reigns Vs Brock Lesnar (WrestleMania 34)

Though fans weren't exactly clamouring for a Roman Reigns Universal title run in 2018, the idea of part-time want-away Brock Lesnar holding onto the gold for another six months wasn't an appealing one and it didn't make sense for the company to keep the belt on a star who had his eyes on a UFC return.

So, it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that Lesnar would be conquered on the night and company man Reigns would be walking out as a full time Champion. Which was definitely the lesser of two wrestling evils.

If the pair put on a clash even half as compelling as their last 'Mania battle three years earlier, perhaps Reigns wouldn't end the night celebrating in a sea of boos for a change, too.

Pulling the rug out from under the WWE Universe's feet at the last second, Vince McMahon decided that Lesnar would hold onto his belt for a few more months after 'The Beast Incarnate' chose to sign on for a bit longer.

That probably wouldn't have been too difficult a pill to swallow had the pair's bout not purely consisted of Lesnar's usual array of suplexes and a mind-numbing amount of F-5's.

Reigns eventually wrestled the belt away from Lesnar at that year's SummerSlam in a much more entertaining smash-and-grab match-up. However, their potentially excellent 'Mania 34 main event only succeeded in sending fans home unhappy for the third year in a row.
