10 WWE Matches That Were Too Epic To Fail (Yet Somehow Still Did)
5. Seth Rollins Vs Dean Ambrose (TLC: Tables, Ladders And Chairs, 2018)
Back in 2018, when Dean Ambrose turned his back on Seth Rollins on the very same night his other Shield brethren Roman Reigns announced to the world he would be leaving WWE to battle leukemia (and the pair had just won the Raw Tag Team titles) the crowd response was understandably nuclear.
Ambrose quickly became public enemy number one in the company and the WWE Universe couldn't wait for Rollins to get his hands on the despicable 'Lunatic'.
However, by the time the pair eventually came to blows over the Intercontinental title at the TLC PPV nearly two months later much of that initial heat had unfortunately died off - thanks to a series of gas mask and inoculation segments. But, surely these two old pals, turned enemies, turned pals again, turned enemies again would deliver a show stealing match and make us care about what should have been the hottest feud in the company.
It wasn't to be and the crowd barely even reacted to this slow paced slog. When Ambrose won the belt, nobody really cared.
In truth, the match had been killed off long before the bell even rang, as WWE had taken a programme which had the potential to be one of the most compelling in modern times and turned it into a lifeless shell of a blood feud. Thankfully, it was mercifully put out of its misery shortly after this damp squib.
