10 WWE Matches That Were Too Epic To Fail (Yet Somehow Still Did)

4. John Cena Vs Batista (WrestleMania XXVI)

Back to WrestleMania XXVI we go and this time we find ourselves faced with a main event match five years in the making.

John Cena and Batista had both taken the company by storm after winning their first world titles at WrestleMania 21.

They'd both walked into 'Manias as World Champions, beaten a whole host of legends and been the top stars in the company ever since they first cemented themselves as main eventers.

They'd even met once before at SummerSlam 2008 in a match which resulted in a herniated disc and a loss for Cena on the night.

Yet, that was seen as more of an exhibition match, whereas their titanic 'Mania XXVI battle was shaping up to be a bit more personal.

Batista was p*ssed off with the fact that Cena had been pushed as 'the name and face of the WWE' and not him. He'd attacked Cena at every turn - even winning the WWE title from him minutes after Cena had defended it in the Elimination Chamber - and the narrative going into their WWE title showdown centred around Cena not being able to beat Big Dave.

Cena won because of course he did, but a 'Mania match which had been fantasised about for years just didn't live up to the billing in-between the ropes.

This should have been a modern day Rock Vs Austin, but it felt more like two pieces of meat being smashed together for 13 minutes.
