Sure, on the surface, The Ultimate Warrior taking on Goldust didn't exactly scream five-star masterpiece. Still, the Warrior was one of WWE's biggest stars, and his 1996 return generated plenty of excitement. Furthermore, Goldust was a very effective heel in those days, making this a contest that had plenty of buzz behind it.

Sadly, the match ended up being so bad that Dave Meltzer actually gave it -3.5 stars.

There was little to no actual wrestling involved here, and it mostly consisted of Goldust standing outside the ring (after being chased), while Marlena tried to distract the Warrior. This drawn-out affair finally ended with the Hall of Famer burning Goldust with a cigar and hitting him with a clothesline, which caused the 'Bizarre One' to flee (and ultimately be counted out).

The whole thing just felt like a giant waste of time. That being said, the fact that the crowd was still hot throughout this incredibly dull spectacle, speaks to just how over the Warrior truly was.
