10 WWE Matches We Thought We Wanted To See (Until We Saw Them)
6. WrestleMania XX: Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar
On the surface, this looked to be a WrestleMania showdown between two of the most popular big men in the business and should have been an exciting, physical affair. Furthermore, adding 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin into the mix as a special guest referee only served to heighten the anticipation.
Unfortunately for WWE, word had already gotten out that both men were parting ways with the company, which caused the crowd to turn on them with a chorus of boos and 'you sold out' chants.
To make matters worse, the match itself was a mostly dull affair that featured a lengthy, prolonged staredown that made a contest that was just under 14 minutes feel twice as long.
The biggest pop of the match came when Austin stunned both men following a Goldberg victory. Of course, it's never a good thing for a performer when a referee steals the show.
Given Goldberg's limited moveset, combined with the fact that both men had little incentive to go above and beyond at that point, this match shouldn't have gone more than five to seven minutes, tops.
Fortunately, WWE learned from their mistake. When the two met again years later at WrestleMania 33, where they had a much better (and much shorter) match.
