10 WWE Matches We Thought We Wanted To See (Until We Saw Them)
2. SummerSlam 1993: Shawn Michaels Vs. Mr. Perfect
A match between Shawn Michaels and Mr. Perfect in their primes, for the Intercontinental Championship, could have easily been one of the great title matches of the era. That being said, the meeting between these two all-time great performers at SummerSlam (1993) fell short of expectations.
In the opening minutes, the two clearly botched a double closeline . Then there was the horrible backbreaker submission in which Perfect wasn't even slightly bent; as such, the hold didn't look the least bit painful. The lackluster ending, in which Michaels took out the ref, so Diesel (who was ringside throughout) could assault Mr. Perfect and allow his man to secure a count-out victory, certainly didn't help matters either.
This was one of those rare incidences when two great performers, for some strange reason, simply didn't have the kind of in-ring chemistry fans would expect.
