10 WWE Mid-Carders Who Never Get The Credit They Deserve

3. Rick Martel

Looking like wrestling's answer to George Michael, the arrogance of Rick Martel's 'Model' character should have turned him into one of the WWF's top heels during the early-1990s.

Martel's appeal wasn't all gimmick, as he could wrestle expertly too. Had the fresh-feeling Razor Ramon character not been chosen for the challenger slot at the Royal Rumble, the clearly over 'Model' would have made an excellent choice as Bret Hart's WWF Title opponent in early-1993. However, the French-Canadian star would never reach the World Title level.

There's no doubt that he should have. Armed with the ability to play both heel and babyface effectively (check out Rick's work alongside Tito Santana as Strike Force for proof of the latter), Martel was brilliant against everyone from Koko B. Ware and Jake Roberts to Santana himself.

Rick Martel belongs in the WWE Hall Of Fame, but he's so often sorely overlooked when conversations turn to honouring those who have given so much to the company.
