1. The Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania XXV
It was The Streak vs. Mr. WrestleMania. Two of the biggest icons in the business going head to head in what was being called an instant classic before the match was even finished. With all due respect to Randy Orton and Triple H, who put on an admirable display in the actual main event, there was no way Orton vs. Hunter (for the 30th time) was going to outshine Undertaker vs. Michaels. Casual fans and diehards can agree that nothing like this WrestleMania matchup had been seen before, nor is it likely to be topped anytime soon. Both performers were in their mid-40s when they met at WrestleMania XXV, but they somehow managed to look like a pair of seasoned twenty-somethings going at it that night. It had all the trappings of a solid Undertaker "Streak Match," including several reversed finishers and near-falls, but it was Michaels' dramatic sells coupled with both performers caution-to-the-wind style that really made this such a captivating bout. The next year, WWE would learn from its mistake and make Taker vs. HBK the main event at WrestleMania XXVI. It turned out as a solid, sentimental showing. (It was Michaels' last match.) But it was simply impossible for them to go out and improve on what they'd done previously. After all...how do you top perfection?
