10 WWE Midcard Matches That Stole Major PPVs

10. CM Punk Vs. Daniel Bryan - Over The Limit 2012

This inclusion is just a little bit of a cheat, as the main event for Over the Limit between John Cena and John Laurinaitis was a total joke, but even on an otherwise exciting PPV, it was Punk and Bryan who stood head and shoulders above the other matches. This was the type of methodical (dare I say traditional) match that we rarely get these days, with Punk and Bryan looking like vintage Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect out there. The crowd was incredibly vocal from the opening bell, eating up every near-submission and kick to the face. And this was one of the few instances where a controversial, mildly confusing ending actually worked. If the WWE creative team really knew and loved its audience, they would have figured out a way to get these two back into another feud before their tenures with the company ended.
