7. Razor Ramon Vs. Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania X
Although Bret vs. Owen Hart came pretty damn close to topping this, ultimately the sheer innovation and storytelling excellence edged this one over. Perhaps most impressively, this ladder match wasn't just a spot fest. Instead, the ladder was used merely as a tool to tell the story (and for Michaels to find a new launching pad for his aerial attacks). The novelty of the stipulation was guaranteed to make the match interesting, but it was the dynamics between Scott Hall and Shawn Michaels that pushed it into its rightfully iconic place in the WrestleMania canon. This match was delivered at exactly the right time, too, since the WWE was still in a state of influx. 1994 was the first year WrestleMania didn't feature Hulk Hogan as the company's face, and so the company needed a default star. And while Bret Hart did his best to make the main event against Yokozuna memorable, there simply wasn't much to work with. In a lot of fans' minds, Razor vs. Shawn basically saved WrestleMania.
