10 WWE Moments 2020 Will Be Fondly Remembered For
1. Edge Returns From His Nine-Year Retirement
Wow.
In this writer's forty-something years of wrestling fandom, this was one of the most genuine, unexpected surprises to ever get sprung on fans.
As the timer ran down to bring out competitor number 21, there was a short period of silence before 'You think you know me...' burst from the speakers, another split second of disbelieving silence, then a thunderous roar as Edge made his way out.
After nine years, one of the most popular WWE wrestlers ever returned from what most thought was a career-ending injury. As he walked out through a cloud of smoke, it was evident that it was a moment of intense emotion. Like the rockstar he is, however, Edge swallowed down the lump in his throat, tore off his coat, and hit the ring to start delivering spears.
They weren't the crispest spears he'd ever done, but who cared? After nine years and triple fusion next surgery, the Rated R Superstar was back. Thankfully, there was a live crowd there for this moment, as while Edge's return to an empty arena would have been no less miraculous, the faces and the sounds that accompanied him to the ring said it all.
