10 WWE Moments 2020 Will Be Fondly Remembered For

2. Drew McIntyre Wins The Big One

At one time, Drew McIntyre had the wrestling world in his hands.

He was introduced to the main roster in 2009 as The Chosen One, a future champ hand-picked by Vince himself. This plan never panned out, and McIntyre soon found himself in the mid-card. Eventually he ended up with comedy act 3MB, before being released in 2014.

After a few years on the indies, Evolve, and TNA, McIntyre returned to WWE via NXT, where he became their champ before moving to the main roster in 2018. At the end of 2019, McIntyre began to distance himself from the likes of Shane McMahon and Dolph Ziggler, displaying more of his own personality and steadily gaining favour with the fans.

He went on a tear through the end of 2019 and early 2020, before getting the second biggest pop of the night at the Royal Rumble (more on that in a moment) by eliminating Brock Lesnar. McIntyre chose to face Lesnar at WrestleMania, defeating him in the main event of night two.

2020 was a year of redemption for McIntyre, a year that proved not only that he had grown since his earlier run but that the fans were willing to forgive the old Drew and heartily embrace the new one.
