Whenever he'd utilise the obnoxious billionaire on television, Vince McMahon always presented Donald Trump as a babyface, perhaps in his mind because 'The Donald' was the perfectly nice face of wealth in natural opposition to the malevolent 'Mr McMahon' character.
As anyone without billions in the bank can attest to though, there's really no such thing. Real life buddies due to obvious similarities, Vince and Trump had strong relations for years, and the family's significant financial investment in the 2016 presidential campaign came as a surprise to few. Slightly more shocking was the appointment of Linda McMahon as Small Business Administrator on Trump's first cabinet.
Joining a government that once threatened to imprison her husband, Linda (despite technically no longer having official affiliation with WWE) at long last gained a foothold in the United States political system after two high profile failures, and nailed the company's flag to Trump's mast in the eyes of many supporters.
Dispiriting for Democrats and the global left at large, the reality was further cemented by a photograph that did the rounds showing Vince, Linda, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Shane McMahon, Marissa Mazzola, and their respective offsprings posing with the President.
