While it has required trial and error, a tip of the hat must go out to WWE for getting inventive and exploring new concepts during crowd-less times, such as cinematic matches. The movie-like contests are a dream come true for the chairman, as Vince McMahon has always tried to dip his toes in waters outside of pro-wrestling's pond.

The Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36 showcased what cinematic matches could have been, whereas the FireFly Funhouse was a combination of what good and bad could come from these overproduced pieces. Along the same lines, The Money in the Bank ladder match was absurdly entertaining, whereas the Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules 2020 left much more to be desired.

The likeness between Bray Wyatt's 'The Fiend' persona and classic horror movies had always been apparent, but that didn't mean creative needed to merge the two completely. The Swamp Fight was an opportunity to show off just how sinister 'He' could be. Unfortunately, it was squandered by far too much talking, random stunt men catching on fire, and minimal actual fighting despite its name.

The throwback to 'The Eater of Worlds' character was a fan-pleaser for sure, but just like Wyatt's old character, it was a lot of smoke and very little fire. To top it off, one of the best things about 'The Fiend' was 'His' originality. At Extreme Rules, what fans witnessed were reenactments of pivotal slasher flick moments, rather than a creative exploration into Wyatt's split personality.
