Those lamenting that believable WWE angles are more frequent these days on Twitter than TV should know the company went digital way before social media was a thing. In an anatomical sense, anyway - and with a skit that, as it happens, wasn't believable at all.

And nor was it supposed to be. Yes, we are of course talking about the - depending on your predilection for zany appendage content - richly comic or deeply drastic time octogenarian Mae Young gave birth to a hand, following a tryst with the company's resident Don Juan Mark Henry. The practicing obstetrician was delighted to tell the beaming mother her kid had all five fingers on all its meat hooks - but unfortunately, that's all it was. A disembodied hand.

Gerald Brisco threw up. Proud father Henry looked on, before his countenance gave way to titters. At last, Pat Patterson stole the show, shouting, "Let's give Mae a hand!" Astonishing, baffling stuff.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
