10 WWE Moments That Prove Ruthless Aggression Era Was Best
9. Batista Turns On Evolution
Evolution was one of the very best (if not the best) stables to come out the decade. They had a real built-in sense of legitimacy, much like the other Flair-helmed stable, The Four Horsemen. But the really great thing about Evolution is that it let the audience see the internal talent-building process that WWE was using during this time. They were building new superstars--and doing it the right way--and letting that play out in this mentoring faction was exciting as all hell. And sure enough, within just a few months of teaming up with Flair and Triple H, both Batista and Randy Orton were on their way to becoming established, main event level guys. As exciting as that all was (and as entertaining as their domination over the rest of the roster could be), there came a time when the mentors had to cut the umbilical cord and let their baby birds fly away... ...by beating the hell out of them and/or attempting to run them down with limousines. The group's turn against Orton was great, if a little predictable. But it was Evolution's most promising young protege, Batista, turning on Hunter and Flair (along with the ensuing feud) that really put a cherry on top of the entire storyline. Plus, we finally got to see someone beat the hell out Triple H and that ridiculous goddamn facial hair he was sporting.
