1. Not Hot, Just Depressing
For all that she was great as a member of Team Xtreme, Lita’s best-ever role may have been as Edge’s valet. Following her well publicised split from Matt Hardy, WWE made hay out of genuine heat and teamed her on screen with Edge, who was in the midst of his own push.
The pair had plenty of great moments together, but the 2006 Live sex celebration was nothing short of a disgrace, offscreen particularly. Edge had cashed in the inaugural Money In The Bank briefcase to become WWE Champion for the first time, and planned to christen the moment in a bed placed in the middle of the ring with Lita live on Raw.
This could have been a bit of risque fun, but reading Lita’s thoughts on the segment years removed, it’s a disturbing spectacle. In interviews, the star (who left the company that year) confirmed she was threatened with termination if she didn’t go through with it, and even Edge and John Cena going to bat for her couldn’t change Vince McMahon’s mind.
The segment did the job, drawing eyes and getting people talking, but is one of the clearest signs of just how toxic a working environment WWE can be, and for that reason it’s truly uncomfortable viewing.
