5. Himself As WWF Champion

Everyone tut tuts the living sh*t out of Vince Russo for putting the WCW World Title on himself in 2000, but Vince McMahon beat him to the punch approx one year earlier. Sure, McMahon was a much better on-screen character than Russo, but did he really need a measly four-day run (six off TV) with the top strap in September 1999?

No, not really.

Vince won the thing from Triple H on the 16 September SmackDown, but vacated it in a lame promo on the 20 September Raw. The WWF then proceeded to use this as an excuse to put the belt on someone new and push them hard. Oh no, wait. No they didn't. They stuck it back on Triple H at Unforgiven.

Why did McMahon even bother then?! His brief title reign was 100% pointless, didn't aid Trips' quest to become a household name, and only lasted one little week anyway. This was either an ego trip, or a decision even Vince realised was stupid as soon as it happened.
