10 WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House Impulse Reactions

6. Finn Bálor Vs. Damian Priest

On the TakeOver: In Your House post-show, Triple H was at pains to put over Damian Priest after he and Renee Young had ran through some of the more eye-catching moments from a show full of them. It seemed important to 'The Game' to make mention of how well 'The Archer Of Infamy' had held up his end of hugely worthy battle with Finn Bálor, even in defeat, and probably bodes well for Priest's immediate future despite another loss.

Without much in the way of stakes or story other than a simple attack angle, Bálor and Priest looked just about ready to kill each other here, or at very least die for the cause. The former NXT Champion had his back mashed into mince by a Razor's Edge on the apron before Priest's attempt to repeat the spot on to the steps resulted in him absorbing the steel and going on to lose to a brutal Coup De Grace just minutes later.

It's annoying NXT television has taken to false finishes and 50/50 booking lately, because the evidence here was that they still know how to make stars either side of the result. 'The Prince' looks all set up for old king Cole yet again, whilst Priest yet again lost upwards. They could easily relive this feud over the brand's top title a year from now.
