10 WWE PPVs Fans Thought Would Totally Suck (But Didn’t)

9. The Bash

Who needs words like 'Great' and 'American' anyway?

That was the thinking going into The Bash in June 2009. The classic WCW feel to The Great American Bash pay-per-view series WWE has revitalised in 2004 was replaced by one they could trademark. People groaned, surely believing a show occurring just three weeks after Extreme Rules would blow.

This card has some sneaky treats to offer. There's a fun 'Championship Scramble' for the much-maligned ECW Title to kick things off, and the follow up 'Title vs. Mask' IC match between Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho is wonderful stuff. Stuffy heel Jericho was on fire in 2008-09. This is more proof of that.

Other gems include Jericho and Edge becoming Tag Champs, Jeff Hardy colliding with CM Punk and a dreadfully overlooked 'Three Stages Of Hell' battle between Triple H and Randy Orton in the main event. Looking back, nobody should've slept on this one.
