WrestleMania XXVIII, at times, was a disappointment.

The Rock vs. John Cena's 'Once In A Lifetime' main event went too long, and the usual post-show malaise afflicting WWE had seemed to set in early. Then, Brock Lesnar kicked the doors in on Raw, returned by kicking seven shades out of John Cena and set up an intriguing prospect at Extreme Rules.

That pay-per-view ended up ignoring the traditional slump (it wasn't dire next to 'Mania - it was actually better) and was value for money. Lesnar vs. Cena was one of the most brutal brawls of the PG era in the main, and CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho in a 'Chicago Street Fight' wound up bettering their tame effort at WrestleMania.

To top things off, a motivated Daniel Bryan faced Sheamus in a stunning '2 Out Of 3 Falls' cracker for the World Title. That didn't quite make up for the 18 second farce at 'Mania, but they did their best and succeeded in rescuing some of Bryan's lost street cred.
