10 WWE Predictions We Got Completely Wrong In 2018
4. "Roman Reigns Will Beat Brock Lesnar"
Well... it did happen. Eventually. But even then it was spawny in the extreme.
The only other certainty besides Brock Lesnar leaving WWE, was that Roman Reigns, a big dog, would become top dog in his place. New Orleans was the place Reigns would become leader of the pack - and the crowd damn well knew it.
With scant regard for the extortionate price of their tickets, the majority in attendance at the Superdome purposefully ignored WrestleMania 34's main-event in a captivating repeat of WrestleMania XX's Lesnar-Goldberg inspired vitriol. But they were wrong - Lesnar emerged from the bloodbath with title in tact, and the boo boys had only spited themselves.
It was the same story in Saudi Arabia, minus the febrile atmosphere adding anything like interest. This time Brock's victory came via a technicality, but once more Roman was defined as a terrier biting at the real big dog's heels.
When Reigns finally got his coronation, it felt like a fluke. Distracted by the actual threat of Braun Strowman, Lesnar was blindsided by a spear, nonplussed just long enough to be unable to raise his shoulders for three seconds. It was hardly the destructive, torch passing moment we had waited 1612 days for. And in the end, it barely mattered.
