6. Are Weekly TV Matches Pointless?
@MichaelFarrer92 references Road Dogg's recent assurance that
wins and losses don't count in pro wrestling, a response he recently made to a fan complaining about a Kevin Owens defeat. His question is, if Road Dogg's words are true, are weekly televised matches now pointless? Firstly, I'm not sure if the New Age Outlaw is speaking complete sense. Of course pro wrestling wins and losses don't mean the same as competitive sporting results, but a sustained period of success or failure will obviously impact the fans' opinion of a wrestler. That's why we have terms such as "pushed", "buried" and "over". On the other hand, Road Dogg is speaking a little sense. For performers as talented and popular as Owens, a televised loss here or there won't damage their credibility too much. In the specific case of KO, Mr. James has a point - but that rule can't apply to everyone on the roster, and it's certainly rash to suggest that wins and losses don't matter at all.
