To be honest, I don't think Owens needs to lose the Universal Championship for prestige to be restored. I think he just needs to be booked strong. Assuming he defeats Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble (an outcome I'm not too sure of), I think KO should break with Jericho and start dominating people again - like he did when a major player in NXT.

If the belt is taken off Owens, Reigns would undoubtedly give it a sense of prestige - even if it wasn't the most popular option for fans. Roman's constant portrayal as a strong figure means the title should - in theory - look strong too.

As long as he cares about it.

We all got quite annoyed with Roman for slinging the US Championship over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, but if he were to carry the Universal title properly, he'd at least make it seem like a coveted belt. Until Finn Balor returns and takes it off him.
